We are excited to announce a new special issue of the Toronto Working Papers in Linguistics!
"Challenging norms of gender and language" looks at gender-inclusive languages and linguistic practices within the trans and non-binary communities. Each paper shows different perspectives of languages in society which challenge current language norms and research practices. This issue is co-edited by Pocholo Umbal (PhD candidate) and Nadia Takhtaganova (PhD student).
This is a must-read publication! The link to the issue is https://twpl.library.utoronto.ca/index.php/twpl/issue/view/2501
Three current or recent students have articles in this issue:
G. Dumais. “What do they say in Quebec?": Non-binary gender expression in informal spoken Quebec French.
L. Konnelly. Both, and: Transmedicalism and resistance in non-binary narratives of gender-affirming care,
We send many congratulations to Pocholo and Nadia, and all the authors, on their wonderful work!
